At last we don’t have to turn our clocks forward today. We were all so exhausted throughout the day. I even put my shirt on backwards, I was that tired. Being in such a close community, you tend to stay up late just talking away and before you know it, its 2:00 am and you have to wake up at 8:00am to run. AHH! Well not Erika, not only does she not get up to run (as she said she would), but she goes to bed at like 11:30. I mess around with her a lot and call her a slacker! But she isn’t. I love her.
“I don’t like any of the food. But this is good,” Erika says as she nibbles on her 5 cubes of cheese. She is fed up with the constant selections of Rice, Pasta and Potato that results in a 99% carbohydrate diet. I don’t mind, but I eat anything and everything. I had lamb for the first time today. It was good. But I felt weird eating it. I felt like I was eating an animal. I mean chicken is an animal but Lamb is such a pretty word. Weird.
Being so tired I had to take a nap. So I did.
Tonight was the dance. There was quite a turn out. The light system in the Union was really impressive. I was the Committee Chair and, I have to say, I pulled off the first even pretty well. There were refreshments served, posters and balloons, and a student volunteered to be the DJ and Bill rocked it out. But of course Erika unfortunately wasn’t able to make it to the dance because she was stuck doing duty again on Deck 7 where Pub Nights are held. What a sad existence. I keep telling her that this is unfair and she must speak up. I hope she does. Don’t worry I visited her from time to time. The dance was broadcasted on the television in all the rooms and let me tell you there were some crazy and hilarious moves out there on the dance floor. Not to mention the rocking of the boat added some interesting slides.
I bought a jacket before I left for Halifax. I was with my mom and she thought it looked like something Michael Jackson would wear, but I loved it. And guess what? It is coming in good use. The nights are quite windy and cold and it also doesn’t help when your day was dampened by a cast of clouds either. The coat is warm, stylish and everyone likes it. So I give that purchase an A+.
Still no whales today. The watch isn’t that strong but in our roommate agreement we agreed that it was mandatory that we notify the others if we see a whale or any other marine life out in the ocean. But this isn’t Sea World. This is as real as it gets. That roommate agreement, which is meant to keep the space safe and comfortable for everyone was kind of superfluous in our case for we are already so close and so easily compatible with one another. So we basically filled out the agreement with funny information hoping that the Dean’s office will get a kick out of it. I love my roommates! I have to say I’ve never had a horrible roommate experience. The worst was when my roommate didn’t talk to me for like the entire year. I hope he isn’t reading this.
Tonight we played cards once again. A crazy character named Thomas joined us, along with Mercedes, Josh and Danilo who all speak Spanish, so we kind of racked their brains to prepare us for the language barrier in Spain. Also amongst the group tonight was Kevin and Rachel (remember she is cool) I just got back from Erika’s room where her and Shannon are watching Legally Blonde the musical. Erika seriously has watched that hundreds of times. No exaggeration. She turns 21 in 4 days. We arrive in Spain in 2. Are you excited? I am.
