Is Anyone Out there!?

“Why did we go this way!?” Erika asks as we leave to go back to rooms but via the windy, moist deck. This girl has been complete entertainment for me thus far. There have been many times in these 4 short days in which we have just sat and laughed. We are really enjoying each other’s company as always. But, unfortunately due to her work study position as an R.A. she had to “supervise” deck 7 where they hold “Pub Nights” to make sure students weren’t bringing alcohol to other parts of the ship. This is absolutely an absurd job and should not fall under the jurisdiction of an “R.A.” who aren’t even supposed to be “real” R.A.s. Nevertheless, Erika called before hand to make sure that her duties would not interfere with the night life on the boat and yet they seem to be doing just that. Anyways, after a fun evening of playing “Apples to Apples” with some new friends, I went to visit Erika at the end of her shift. I come up the stairs to fine a senile figure of a woman with a hood over her head staring into space. It was Erika. She was wet, cold and miserable, but boy…what an hysterical sight. Don’t worry I have pictures =)

Capture the flag was turned down! What a shame? We decided to hold a dance this Sunday instead, which should be fun. It will provide a chance for us to really celebrate together the time of our lives and release some of our excitement. I am on the music committee and somewhat in charge…I don’t know how that happened but I don’t mind. Whether you believe it or not, I’m pretty shy around people who I don’t know, at least in a dancing setting. So I’m not sure how outgoing I’ll be Sunday night, but fingers crossed. I always have Erika =) The name of the dance is “Rock the Boat”

And “Rock On!” This morning was a hit! I did not feel sick at all, in fact the entire day I felt great and the boat was rocking like crazy with the 10 foot waves we were sailing through. I can’t believe we are STILL at sea in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. I just wish someone would sail by so that I could wave “Hi” and at least know that someone else was out there. It is quite eerie not knowing what lies beyond. Some people said they saw cruise ships and WHALES! I want to see a whale. I hear they come out in the early morn, so that is now on my list of things to do.

Along with the mundane: Eat Breakfast. Run. Then Class: Today we discussed the layout of the Mediterranean Sea and it is so freaking cool that I will be amidst the Black Sea and be able to see the Nile River in Africa. These sights are things I never expected to see and it is beyond surreal that my home is sailing toward these destinations right now as I write this.

My mom called me last night to share her excitement with me about “So You Think You Can Dance” And the crazy Mary Murphy. We love her. But how crazy is it that she called her son, who is sailing the Atlantic Ocean, to share that!? I know technology is overbearing at times, but come on! That is just plain cool! And I loved it. Of course it was late here, so I wasn’t as quite enthusiastic but she knows I appreciated it. Thanks mom!

The group of us booked some more trips today including a trip to Delphi in Athens, a hike in Turkey, and me and Erika are looking into a Jeep Safari for Bulgaria! This trip is freaking AMAZING! To all you older folks out there who think this is experience is out of reach, shut up and get up! There are 80 year olds in my class, cruising right along with me! If possible I encourage everyone to take this opportunity, young or old, rich or poor! Do it! We can talk if you’d like and I’ll work it out for you.

Met some more cool people tonight and the list is sure to grow: Nikko, Jen, Eric, Allison, Anna, Rachael, Heather, another Jen (we’ll call her the cute one), and have I mentioned Billy? He is fun! This will help me to not only remember their names but introduce them as well just incase they show up in the future, which I’m sure they will! No one can leave or enter the boat for another 4 days. And counting…

We turn our clocks forward AGAIN! Sleep Tight.

Explore. Dream. Discover.

P.S. Is my hair thinning? I feel like it is. I hope the ocean doesn’t have an effect on your hair quality.
