I'm a Kunanaire!

**Note: Post date is July 8, 2009**

It felt so nice to sleep in today! With Croatia not being a country of a lot of sightseeing we are able to kick it back and relax for these next couple of days. And by relax I mean hike uphill across an island to find a beach. A beach in which I was quite unsatisfied with. It was cloudy, windy, small, cramped and just not up to the quality standards I had set for a Croatian beach.

We all decided to hop a ferry in the morning to this island, which we thought would have yet more gorgeous beaches. As you can see that plan failed for me. Kate, Rachel and Becca, being the cool gals that they are, seemed to be content with the situation. Maybe I was overreacting but Erika and Bo were in agreement that the other side of the island with the calm water and the sun was a bit more relaxing and spacious may I add. All in all we could have stayed in Dubrovnik and had found the same if not the better beach.

A.B.A. was one short today. Kevin took a trip to Bosnia with Semester at Sea. I missed him. He is, as I said in early posts, a great source of comedy; let it be from his sarcasm, his goofiness or just his laugh, his presence is quite contagious!

Another contagious personality, the one and only Erika! On the way to the island me and her just started singing. We sang for like 20 minutes straight. I laughed and laughed and laughed. During the ride we also talked about being home sick. I wish that I could do this entire trip and freeze time back at home. Not that I’m not enjoying myself to the fullest, its just there are certain things that I miss greatly.  I missed the fourth of July which I love spending with friends and family. I miss going to AnnMarie’s house and just chilling with our friends for the day. I miss swimming at Erika’s house and doing karaoke. I miss yelling at my brother and sister to let me watch tv in the living room. I miss driving with my mom in the car as she blasts her music. I just miss summer at home.

Summer here is a blast though. When we got back from the island, we met up with Kevin and went to the old city to walk around. It was again so lively. I love it here! We sat down at an outside bar and enjoyed ourselves as we talked and danced. “I never do that,“ Erika says as me and her dance in the middle of the streets with everyone watching. She does this crazy movement with her foot and I just die laughing! It was a good night. Nico joined and we all browsed the shops and of course stopped for pizza. We took the BUS home, not a taxi.

Day 2 not as exciting as Day 1 but tomorrow shall be an adventure. Kayaking and Snorkeling. Stay tuned.
